One of the biggest challenges we’re trying to take on is climate change. Though we can’t do it alone, we’re committed to doing our part to protect the planet. That’s why we’re proud to share our commitment to environmental sustainability and responsibility.
Our Path to Sustainability
Doing the Basics Right
You can’t change the world if you can’t clean your own room. For us, that has to start with our own factory. Headquartered in the Chicago metropolitan area, we’re already held to higher than normal Clean Air Act standards—standards that we proudly meet or exceed.
When you’re working with wood and metal, using veneers, lacquers, and paint, and running large-format printers, this is often easier said than done—but we make it happen.
This starts with the right equipment. Over the past decade, we’ve continued to modernize our facilities with better, more sustainable equipment. We’ve reduced our reliance on VOC-laden paint when possible by using powder coat, chosen the end-to-end sustainability of the HP Latex line of printers, and implemented a variety of other programs to reduce pollution.
For the HAPs, VOCs, and other pollutants that naturally come from manufacturing operations, we’re making use of best available control technology to protect the air, water, and community.
Pair this with steps taken in our facilities and office like instituting a recycling program, selecting energy-efficient lighting, opting for virtual meetings, and installing EV charging stations, and we’re doing our part across the board.
Holding Suppliers and Partners to the Same Standard
We’re not simply doing our part, we’re expecting the same out of our partners. As a responsible wood manufacturer, our sourcing team gives preference to suppliers who meet Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certifications. This ensures that our clients are receiving furniture and fixtures made from responsibly harvested wood, providing each party involved with environmental, social and economic benefits.
We also prefer to work with LEED certified suppliers, helping to provide more sustainability throughout the value chain.
Furthermore, as a global manufacturer, we’re making globally responsible distribution decisions. Our logistics partners continually work to reduce their carbon emissions without affecting timeliness. On-time, on-budget, and environmentally aware—a win-win-win for everyone involved.
Helping Our Clients Reduce Their Environmental Impact
Did you know that Morgan Li does fixture refurbishment? Retail fixture refurbishment from Morgan Li is the “reuse” part of the old phrase, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” and is an important part of helping our retail partners get more value from their investment while reducing their environmental impact.
Refurbishment gives new life to old store fixtures. Rather than simply using fixtures and recycling them at the end of their useful life, refurbishment extends the useful life of them.
And even if the metal in fixtures is recycled, “not making something” is always more environmentally friendly than “making something.”
In fact, did you know that in 2020 alone, Morgan Li…
- … recycled enough shrink wrap to cover Razorback Stadium 665 times over.
- … refurbished enough 22×48/16×48 Shelves to fill 146 40ft containers? Stacked end-over-end, that’s 4 Empire State buildings tall!
- … recycled more than 230 miles of plastic ticket strips from refurbishment. That’s the distance from Minneapolis to Madison, WI or Bentonville to Kansas City, MO!
And since then, the number has only grown!
